Center for Contemporary Printmaking

Make a good impression! Have you ever been curious about printmaking? And, just what is printmaking? This artistic practice transfers ink from a matrix onto material — typically paper — making multiple impressions of the same image. Matrices can be made of a variety of materials, such as wood, metal plates, linoleum, aluminum, or fabric. While there are different printmaking techniques (each having its own distinct characteristics), the end result is the ability to make several impressions of a single image. The Center for Contemporary Printmaking aims to provide visitors with the opportunity to not only look at stunning prints, but to learn more about how they’re made.

Our facility includes an exhibition gallery, printmaking studios, and a resource center dedicated to supporting, preserving and advancing the art of original prints, both traditional and contemporary. Founded in 1995, our non-profit organization is located in an historic landmark 19th-century stone carriage house. An architectural gem transformed into an important art resource, it is the only center of its kind between New York and Boston. Pricing: Free exhibition entry. Gallery and Studio Hours: Tuesday–Saturday: 9am–5pm; Sunday 12pm–5pm; Closed on Mondays. info@contemprints.org

Norwalk Preservation Trust

Finding a Future for Our Past

We believe that the buildings around us are an important part of understanding the history of our community. This heritage is what gives Norwalk its unique character. Norwalk Preservation Trust works with homeowners, businesses, neighborhood groups, and city agencies to preserve that character and retain our visible history.

The Norwalk Conservatory of the Arts

The Norwalk Conservatory was developed by Broadway and Television / Film Creatives for those students who are ready to work in the industry but require some additional training and the connections needed to excel in this career. Our curriculums are built to consolidate a traditional four year undergraduate program into two years of intense training and a two year graduate program into one year.

The Norwalk Conservatory of the Arts was founded in 2018 by Danny & Ricky Loftus George. The idea was to create a conservatory that understood the unique problems modern students face while trying to actively pursue education and performance at the same time. NoCo is focused on keeping students performing while taking up less time to pursue their education in their chosen field. As of today, NoCo has held intensives at various locations all over the country, and is dedicated to opening it’s doors in 2023 for the Norwalk Community.

Wave Hill Breads

Our mission: We bake delicious artisan breads with high-quality ingredients our grandmothers would recognize. We source our grains locally and we mill them ourselves because we know that freshness increases flavor. We purchase fruits, vegetables, honey and other ingredients from farmers we know from more than 15 years of selling  alongside them at Farmers Markets in CT & NY.

Our history: Owner, Tim Topi started baking as an apprentice at age 16 in Rome, Italy. He ultimately became a Master Baker and moved to the US in 2013 with ambitions to work at a bakery where he could make bread like the bread he had in Italy. Tim became the Head Baker at Wave Hill Breads which specialized in Pan de Campagne in traditional shapes. Two year later, Tim and Angela, bought the business and expanded offerings to include Sourdough, Ciabatta, Focaccia, Pumpernickel and sandwich breads, all made with the same care for quality and healthiness.  In 2021, we began to bake Roman style pizzas which are now a “fan favorite”.

Food & Wine magazine named us on their Best Bread by State list for Connecticut. We were also on their list of the Top 100 Bakeries in the country in 2020. Come visit the bakery and bring some fresh bread home for your table.

Valentino’s Cucina Italiana

Valentino’s Cucina Italiana is a casual neighborhood restaurant located across from Veterans Park in Liberty Square. The restaurant is warm & inviting overlooking the Norwalk River and the heart of SONO. Valentino’s was opened in the summer of 2011 by local residents, The Promuto’s. Vincent Promuto and his son Louis have always dreamed of celebrating their Italian heritage with a restaurant focusing on Italian food. After establishing The Sunset Grille, one of East Norwalk’s favorite waterfront restaurants, they decided it was finally time to open up their “Cucina Italiana.” Valentino’s specializes in making homemade pastas, along with various authentic Italian dishes featuring veal, chicken, beef & seafood. Valentino’s also specializes in wood-fired pizza, salads and wood-fired Italian ribs and wings. The restaurant offers a full menu along with daily specials. Everything is made to order, so if there is something different that you desire – just ask – Chef will do his best to accommodate your request. To compliment your meal, Valentino’s boasts a full bar with a great wine selection. Additionally, we offer delightful homemade desserts such as tiramisu, lava cake, & cannoli’s which are made on premises.

Valencia Luncheria

Fresh-squeezed juice & jumbo plates of empanadas, arepas & casual Venezuelan chow in a relaxed cafe. Whether it is turning a traditional kugel dessert into a starch dish by adding wild canary mushrooms or accentuating a Thai grilled red snapper into a visually appetizing feast, there is one certainty to expect from his cuisine: the unexpected. With indubitably well-rounded skills, Michael can, and has, conquered different styles of food without compromise. Creating new and diverse dishes through inspiration as well as a natural awareness for food combinations, each must be prepared with just the right spice, vegetable, seasonal ingredient and attitude.
