“Cloak and Dagger” Spy Lecture, Thursday, September 29, 6:30pm at Mill Hill Historic Park, 2 East Wall St. Discover who, the how, the successes and failures of America’s first foray into intelligence gathering. Tour & Taste of Wall Street, Sunday, September 25 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. A two-hour architectural and historical walking tour of the Wall Street Historic District, followed by a one-hour, festive tasting reception featuring the best of local restaurants, to be held at the Wall Street Theater, 71 Wall St., with easy parking in the Yankee Doodle Garage. Norwalk’s Wall Street was a vibrant hub of business, banking, shipping, logistics, transportation, and entertainment. It was the heart of the city, where fortunes were made and reputations were built. Then came the flood, a catastrophe in 1955, the ferocity and scale of which is hard to imagine today. Norwalk Preservation Trust will explore the past, present, and future potential of this vital, central district, in its architecture and in its history. The Lighthouse Run For Greens Ledge, Saturday, September 24 at 5:30 p.m. at Bayley Beach, 11 Pine Point Rd. The Greens Ledge Light Preservation Society will host their 5th-annual sunset 5k Run and 1-Mile Walk along the Rowayton waterfront, beginning and ending at Bayley Beach overlooking Greens Ledge Lighthouse. (Please show up by 5:00 p.m. for registration; race officially will begin at 5:30. Join in-person or virtually for a leisurely stroll along the waterfront or for a competitive workout! The Norwalk Boat Show returns to the Norwalk Cove Marina at Calf Pasture Beach, from September 22-25. In addition to observing the best and latest that boating brands have to offer, the show offers activities for the whole family to enjoy. Attendees can take a boat ride out to the historic Green’s Ledge Lighthouse or try their hand at stand-up paddle boarding and kayaking at Try It Cove. For refreshments, check out Sandbar or the Water Club Lounge.
Children can get in on the fun at the show by creating their own toy boats. Kids can also take paddle boats on a mini lake made just for them, or satisfy their curiosity at a touch tank full of tidepool creatures. New this year is a performance from Twiggy the Waterskiing Squirrel, who will amaze and entertain as she skis behind a radio-controlled boat that cruises around a custom-made pool. Sustainable Streets Happy Hour, Wednesday, September 21 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at 314 Beer Garden, 314 Wilson Ave. The Norwalk Bicycle Co-op is hosting its first Sustainable Streets Happy Hour! This is an informal event for anyone interested in safer streets and sustainable transportation (biking, walking, public transit, etc.) to meet other like-minded people. They’re teaming up with Kelly Prinz from the Coastal Connecticut Times, who is sponsoring the event with a free drink for the first 20 people to arrive and sign up for the CCT newsletter. 314 is a beautiful venue with a great selection of alcoholic & non-alcoholic drinks and a good selection of food (plus a gelato truck, if you're lucky). MTC presents Sunset Boulevard, with performances through October 2.
