Quilt and Illustration Exhibition

The Norwalk Art Space: A Quilt and Illustration Exhibition: Lizzy Rockwell / Friends Family Opens February 3.

Opening Reception is Thursday, February 3rd from 6 – 9 pm, with performances by DJ Hauswife and Jazz by Quiltet. Lizzy Rockwell is an artist who communicates and collaborates.  Her illustrations are visual narratives created primarily for children, which adorn over 35 picture books, a 28’ long wall in the pediatric waiting room of the Norwalk Community Health Center, and numerous award-winning games produced by the toy company, eeBoo. Illustrations by her mother, Anne Rockwell and abstract woodcuts by her father, Harlow Rockwell, are included in this exhibit. Many of these works have been generously loaned to The Norwalk Art Space and are being seen together in one place for the first time. Along with the art quilts, which often communicate specific messages and use typography, like large fabric posters, there are personal artworks, created by the quilters, on display. The exhibit runs through March 10, 2022. The Norwalk Art Space is located at 455 West Ave. (metered on-street parking available), and is open Wednesday through Friday from 8 am to 3 pm, and Saturday & Sunday from 9 am to 3 pm.
