MLK Day Observances

Celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Observances in Norwalk include:

Ecumenical Worship Service at Bethel AME Church (19 Academy St.): Pastor Rev. Dr. Richard Wesley Clark welcomes guest preacher Mount Zion Baptist Church Pastor Rev. James W. Newton III on Sunday January 14, at 2:00 p.m. 

Community Outreach Breakfast Program featuring keynote speakers Norwalk High School Counsellor Tanya Rhodes-Small, MS, and Dominique Carter on Monday January 15 at 8:00 a.m., in the cafeteria at CT State Community College Norwalk (formerly Norwalk Community College), West Campus (188 Richards Ave.). A FREE Norwalk Public Schools Student and Staff Program will start at 10:00 a.m. in the Pepsico Theater on the CT State Community College Norwalk East Campus, featuring performances and artwork by NPS students.

Citywide Program with guest preacher Yale University Divinity and Social Work Professor Rev. Dr. Fredrick Streets, plus the IMF/MLK Community Choir directed by Hughie Askew on Monday January 15 at 5:00 p.m., at the Pepsico Theater on the CT State Community College Norwalk East Campus.

Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, January 15 starting at 9:00 a.m. at Stepping Stones Museum for Children (303 West Ave.), with opportunities for kids to learn about the history of the civil rights movement and the importance of promoting peace.
