“Mama’s Baby, Daddy’s Too.”

A new exhibition at The Norwalk Art Space. Opening reception is free and open to the public on Thursday, December 14 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. This exhibition features Aisha Nailah, who is a Korry Fellow at TNAS, as well as four contributing artists: Melida McKenzie-Alford, Clymenza Hawkins, Shaunda Sekai-Holloway, and Linda Mickens. The opening reception will feature performances by students of the Petty-Drayton Music Program at 7:00 p.m. and DJ Dana Game will be spinning throughout the evening. There will be multiple community events held as part of the exhibition, starting with an Artist Talk on Sunday, January 14 at 3:00 p.m., which will be moderated by artist, poet and community organizer Shanna Melton and will feature a discussion about process, inspiration, origin, ancestors, and life as an artist. On Saturday, February 10 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Melida McKenzie-Alford will lead a macrame-making workshop. On Saturday, February 24 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., there will be a multimedia African comb workshop. The museum and its Art Space Cafe are open Wednesday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., and Saturday & Sunday from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  Overflow parking is available across the street (to the left of the former YMCA building) and at Mathews Park (295 West Ave.).
