🌸✨🌈 Spring-Summer Comes to Life in SoNo! 🌞💧🌺
📣 We’re thrilled to unveil the new spring installation of the SoNo Sign, a vibrant work by Zahira Oyola Vargas, a talented 12th-grade IB Art student! With guidance from her amazing teachers, Joselyn Santos and Katelyn Westervelt, Zahira has beautifully captured the essence of the season:
💧 S is for rain, the life-giving drops that kickstart growth.
☀️ O is for the sun, warming our days and bringing everything to life.
🌸 N is for the flowers, blooming with vivid colors and intricate shapes.
🌈 O is for the rainbow, reimagined as a piñata to add a playful, joyful twist.
🎨 This project was made possible thanks to funding from the City of Norwalk Business Development and Tourism Department, supporting creative expression and community pride.

This Monday, May 19, the City of Norwalk is celebrating Blue Cactus Grill’s 15th Anniversary and the groundbreaking of an exciting streetscape improvement project in the Hospital Hill neighborhood! We invite the community to join us at 51 Srevens St. Plus, you can stop by the Blue Cactus Grill at any time on Monday and get 15% off!
We will start the morning with a press conference at 8:30 a.m., where Mayor Rilling, the CT Department of Transportation, State, City and local business leaders will gather for these exciting celebrations. The groundbreaking of the streetscape improvement project, managed by Norwalk`s Department of Transportation, Mobility and Parking, will enhance the streetscape design, improve parking facilities, increase safety, and beautify public space in the Hospital Hill neighborhood. The grant supports the City`s recently adopted Complete Streets legislation and will transform this village district and vibrant business community by enhancing economic development, pedestrian accessibility, and overall aesthetics. This $1.3 million infrastructure project was made possible thanks to a $800,000 grant from the Connecticut Department of Transportation`s Community Connectivity Grant Program.
One of the Hospital Hill local businesses that will benefit from this infrastructure project is Blue Cactus Grill! If you’re not already in on the secret, Blue Cactus Grill is known as a culinary institution and offers a variety of American favorites with a Southwest twist. Their food earned them the title of best takeout food restaurant in Fairfield County in 2024 by the Daily Voice Reader`s Choice.
In addition, the Blue Cactus Grill and neighboring businesses are investing in facade improvements through the City’s Storefront Improvement program. This 50% grant match supports efforts to beautify business exteriors and stimulate further investment in the community.
We hope to see you there!
