One of the more popular spring and summer maritime activities is the Norwalk Seaport Association’s (NSA) cruise to Sheffield Island Lighthouse. Placed on the National Register of Historic Places, it was said back in 1869, “The view from the top of the Sheffield Lighthouse, on a clear summer`s day, is worth a journey of a thousand miles to see.” Featuring both weekday and weekend cruises to Sheffield Island, the NSA also offers a schedule of several cruise themes and destinations, such as a clambake cruise, a sunset harbor cruise, and for those with a thirst for adventure, pirate-themed cruises. Many cruises offer opportunities for viewing marine wildlife, such as seals and sea birds, in their natural habitat along the Norwalk Islands.
